aisencia® expands to Australia and welcomes new investor
We are extremely proud to welcome Pathscan Pty Ltd. from Australia as a strategic partner and investor—alongside Dr. Ian Katz and Paul Richard—whose expertise will propel us into an exciting new phase.
Dr. Ian Katz, a distinguished pathologist who completed his medical training at the University of Cape Town and qualified in Australia in 1996, stands among the nation’s top experts in skin-cancer diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Katz founded Southern Sun Pathology — the largest dedicated dermatopathology laboratory in Australia, which diagnoses approximately 10–15% of all skin cancers in the country, often referred to as the “skin-cancer capital of the world”. We are truly honored to now have him on board at aisencia®.
Joining him is Paul Richard, former CEO of Southern Sun Pathology and, most recently, of PRP Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology). Originally from Ottawa, Canada, Mr. Richard brings an extense background in process optimization, business administration, and over two decades of healthcare leadership. After a successful early career at Mars, he transitioned into healthcare, where he found his passion for leveraging patient data to optimize outcomes.
Dr. Katz and Mr. Richard led the way as Australia’s first pathology operators to introduce a fully validated digital pathology reporting workflow, establishing themselves as pioneers in the field.
Together, this powerful alliance and investment will enable aisencia’s entry into the Australian market. Even more exciting, we will jointly continue to develop our digital pathology workflows to integrate AI seamlessly into everyday practice in Australia.
